RECAP: DAY 1 - ON THE ROAD AND FIRST STOP

The first stop was at the Vaal dam. All were very relieved to see Bobo the Camper set up in all it's glory at the first stop and fill up on some much needed refreshments!

Marius needed a little TLC on those knees.

Pierre decided a beer would be so much more thirst quenching than the water!

Chruis Iuel

Ravi a little sore after falling off...

André feeling very chuffed with himself!

Hanging out in the car

Carolyn, also very pleased with herself.

MESSAGE FROM BRETT DUNGAN TO THE TEAM

I don’t know if I can add anything to what has already been said about the event !

As the part time participant I would like to say that I noticed that the people whom I left on Wednesday somewhere on the road to Heilbronn after at least 25 km’s and those that I met again in the berg at Alpine were just “different”.

What struck me the most was the way you helped and supported each other through the event.

I also noted that being a team it was not important that everyone was always “strong” but more importantly that there was always someone to take on the challenge, lead and bring those struggling with him or her to reach the final goal.

Finally riding into Durban (downhill) that the pack was so tight, comfortable and in absolute control, a feat that on day one on the way to the gate at Emerald would not have been possible without serious incident!

The value of this ride goes far further for the company than the social corporate responsibility aspect it has forged bonds and opened communications through the experience from trainees to the CEO that will last a lifetime!

Some may ask what you got out of it and the answer along with a sore bum has to be that anything is possible if you do it as a team!

From my side THANK YOU for the invite and the experience it was a real honour.

Well done!!

Kind regards
Brett

SMOOTH AND SILKY LEGS?

At the stop over at Alpine, both Glyn and Chris decided to have their legs shaved as the poor support team were not happy about being subjected to massaging hairy legs...

Cindy and Ellen spent HOURS shaving their legs and went through countless razors.

Unfortunately the following day (third day of the challenge), Ellen fell off her bike and hurt her arm badly. She landed up having to go for x-rays to make sure nothing was broken and has a VERY sore and swollen arm

Pierre in support of Ellen, promised that he would shave his legs if she managed to cycle the last distance into the Riverside on her bicycle, which of course, Ellen proudly did!

Here is Pierre's email to Ellen and team today...

"Morning all

Just in case there were any doubts that I wouldn't put my money were my mouth is .......see attached .
Let me just add that it was enough to bring a tear to a glass eye!

Well done to all and I am certainly looking forward to the next adventure."
(NOTE THE BOW)

AND ELLEN'S REPLY:

"Huge respect Pierre!! Can't believe this. You have made my day, that's all I can say. I'm so ready to take on any challenge, at any time, as long as it is with TEAM B! Sorry you had to go through the pain, but there was no way I was going to ride all the way from Jo'burg and cross the finishing line in any other way than on a bicycle!
Thanks again
ps: and you thought you had tanned legs!!!"

And so it has now been established that there is only one remaining member of TEAM B without shaved legs...

MARIUS...we're waiting for the pic?
